SSC MTS Preparation Strategy

Session-I

Because Session-I has no negative marking, preparation should focus on speed and accuracy while completing the 40 questions within 45 minutes. Build a strong base in arithmetic and mathematical operations, then practise reasoning questions in timed sets.

Session-II

Session-II carries one mark of negative marking for each wrong answer. Practise General Awareness through systematic revision and keep a separate current-affairs notebook. For English, revise grammar, vocabulary and comprehension and solve timed objective sets.

Mock-test routine

  • Practise both sessions as separate timed tests.
  • Record accuracy rather than relying only on attempted-question count.
  • Review every incorrect Session-II answer because of the negative-marking penalty.
  • Use official answer-key/response-sheet access when available to analyse actual examination performance.
  • Practise in the language combination in which you intend to take the examination.

Previous-year papers

Prefer official SSC question-paper/response-sheet material where it can be accessed and verified. SSC's 2026 MTS answer-key notice stated that question papers cum response sheets were made available through the candidate login and were intended for personal use and self-analysis.
