AMIE Preparation Strategy

1. Start with the official syllabus

Use the IEI Rules and Syllabi document as the primary reference for Section A and Section B subjects.

2. Separate Section A from Section B

Section A focuses on common engineering foundations, while Section B is branch-specific. Preparation should therefore be organized around the candidate's current stage and registered engineering discipline.

3. Practise previous papers

IEI publishes old question papers as official publications. Candidates should use officially sourced papers where available and avoid treating coaching-site reconstructions as official papers.

4. Prepare for three-hour papers

The published IEI examination programmes use three-hour examination sessions. Practise complete papers within the allotted session time.

5. Follow the examination programme

Paper dates can differ by subject and Section A or Section B scheme. The session-specific examination programme should be treated as the final authority for the applicable examination.
