Madhab Choudhury College in Barpeta was established on 14 July 1939 and introduced its Science stream in 1959, according to its official history. Its current website describes Arts and Science undergraduate study and postgraduate courses in Assamese and Botany, and lists hostel selection notices and academic resources. The college reports UGC Sections 2(f) and 12(B) status, provincialisation in 2005 and a NAAC 'B+' grade in its 2023 third-cycle assessment. There is an affiliation conflict: the college's current official website states that it is affiliated to Gauhati University, while an older Bhattadev University prospectus includes it in the university's affiliated-college list. The SQL therefore does not claim that the affiliation conflict is resolved.
