History

Hans Raj College was established in July 1948 by the D.A.V. College Managing Committee in memory of Mahatma Hansraj. It began in two rooms at the D.A.V. School premises on Chitragupta Road and initially offered Prep. and B.A. (Pass). Honours, postgraduate, commerce and science programmes were added progressively; the college became co-educational for undergraduate courses in 1976.
