The college came into being on 17 November 1960 at the inauguration of the university.

The College of Agriculture began on 17 November 1960, when Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru inaugurated the university. The university describes eleven departments, including agronomy, entomology, horticulture, plant pathology and soil science. Its teaching and research span undergraduate agriculture and postgraduate and doctoral work; the college page also reports multiple national, state and international funded research projects.
