Jamia Millia Islamia’s Centre for Distance and Open Learning supports study outside the conventional on-campus format. The university says the centre was launched in September 2002 with assistance from the Distance Education Council. Its stated model uses printed self-learning materials supplemented by audio and video resources, counselling and contact programmes, workshops, and student-support services through study centres or extension units. The centre also runs an Urdu Proficiency Course, formerly known as the Urdu Correspondence Course. Jamia describes itself as a dual-mode university offering regular and distance education; programme availability and current eligibility should be checked against the current official prospectus.
