About Indian Army

The Indian Army is the land warfare service of the Indian Armed Forces. For competitive-exam and recruitment candidates, its major entry routes include Agniveer recruitment through the Common Entrance Examination (CEE), officer entry through NDA and CDS examinations conducted by UPSC, Technical Entry Scheme (TES), NCC Special Entry and other service-specific selection processes. Recruitment requirements vary by entry and can include online applications, written or computer-based examinations, physical fitness tests, medical examination, psychological or interview-based assessment and merit-based selection.

History

The Indian Army traces its institutional development to the evolution of the armed forces under British India and the post-independence reorganization of India’s military. After independence in 1947, the Army became the principal land warfare service of the Republic of India and has since developed a large command, training and operational structure.
